As per my previous post dated 4th June 2009, a forwarded email regarding solar eclipse and predicted earth quake that will cause tsunami. But I am more interested to write about the solar eclipse.
Tomorrow 22nd July 2009 (Wednesday) 8.45am local time will be the actual day as mentioned. If you Google a lot of websites and blogs tell us about this phenomena. And Brunei will be affected as part of Asian region. This will be the longest eclipse in 21st century, lasting for 6 minutes and 39 seconds (full eclipse can be viewed in from India to central China). According to Brunei Astronomy, if weather conditions permitted partial eclipse can be viewed for 1 hour and 34 minutes from Bandar Seri Begawan. So to all Bruneian photographers, be ready with your camera.
Precaution advice from Brunei Astronomy: The spectacular event should be observed with precautions. Eclipse watchers are advised to avoid looking at the sun directly with the naked eyes, through a telescope or binoculars as these may cause damage to the eyesight. Proper solar filters or eclipse glasses must be used for observation.
If you miss it, you can also watch the eclipse online by clicking here.
